The John C. Campbell Folk School is pleased to announce that registration for January - June 2027 classes is now open, and the digital copy of our newest catalog is now available! 

From woodworking and weaving to blacksmithing, pottery, painting, and more, the Folk School offers hands-on experience for students of all skill levels. 

With expert instructors, immersive workshops, and a beautiful campus setting, participants can develop new skills, explore their passions, and connect with a vibrant community of makers.

For teachers, youth, Active Military & Veterans or locals, if you haven’t already taken advantage of our tuition discount programs, we encourage you to do so.

Local Discount: The Folk School offers 25% off tuition and a guaranteed spot upon registration to people living in the following neighboring counties: North Carolina: Cherokee, Clay, Macon, Swain, Jackson, and Graham. Georgia: Fannin, Towns, Union, Gilmer, and Rabun. Tennessee: Polk.

Active Military & Veterans Discount: In recognition of their service and sacrifice, the Folk School is proud to offer a special discount for active military personnel and veterans. Effective March 5, 2024, Active Military & Veterans will receive a 15% discount on tuition fees. This is our way of expressing gratitude for their dedication and bravery. Scholarship Information: Applications for January – June 2027 classes are now open. Applications will close on August 17. The Folk School awards a number of scholarships each year, providing partial or full financial support for a weeklong or weekend class. Scholarships are awarded to folks who demonstrate financial need along with an admiration for the Folk School’s unique education model. Lifelong learners, young adults, craftspeople who have never attended the Folk School, and anyone else facing financial hurdles are encouraged to apply. Tuition-only scholarships cover the cost of tuition for any full-price, weekend, or weeklong class. We have a limited amount of scholarship funding each year and encourage applicants to apply as early as possible. Once applications are submitted, they can take several weeks to review. Full scholarships cover the cost of tuition, housing, and meals for any full-price, weekend, or Weeklong class. Some of our full scholarship funds require an applicant to meet set criteria.
