JERRY HARMON IN CONCERT AT THE FOLK SCHOOL
Join us MONDAY, March 30 at 7 p.m. in the Community Room for a concert with Jerry Harmon. After decades of performing, acclaimed Americana and country musician Jerry Harmon is back for show at the Folk School for the first time since David Brose was stationed as Folklorist. Jerry splits his time between Kemah, Texas and his hometown of Otto, NC. Jerry is a storyteller and songwriter who has built an international following. His notable festival appearances include MerleFest, The Edinburgh International Festival, and The Winnipeg Folk Festival, solidifying his reputation as a world-class live performer. Born into a deep Appalachian musical tradition in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Jerry Harmon’s upbringing was steeped in sound. His earliest musical memories include strumming a homemade banjo crafted by his Uncle Gene, while radio broadcasts of Hank Williams and Ray Price shaped his lifelong love of authentic American music. By age 12, armed with a Sears & Roebuck Truetone guitar and tireless determination, Jerry taught himself to play. A life of touring, recording, and jack tales have shaped Jerry Harmon into The Smoky Mountain Storyteller. Jerry brings his signature blend of Americana, country, folk, and storytelling to gather audiences the way mountains gather clouds. Jerry’s studio album “Walk Softly,” named a Country Magazine highlight, bridges classic country songwriting with a modern edge and is a heartfelt nod to life, love, and lived experience. Jerry Harmon offers an unforgettable live show rooted in history, heart, and good musicianship. A donation of $5-15 per adult is suggested, but all are welcome regardless of contribution. Any funds raised support traditional arts and help us strive for equitable pay for performers. *Lineup and schedule are subject to change, for the most up to date details check the schedule at folkschool.org/concerts.
