Healthy soil is the foundation of successful gardening. The first step to cultivating healthy soil is having your soil tested. Collecting soil samples only takes a few minutes and has many benefits. It can help you save money in your lawn, garden and landscape, can result in healthier plants by telling you which nutrients are already in your soil and which you need to add, and can protect water quality by preventing unnecessary fertilizer applications. Starting April 1 - November 30, NC Cooperative Extension Clay County Center will be providing soil sample kits FREE of charge! Come by our office to pick up your kit, take it and fill with samples, and then bring it back and we will ship it for you for FREE! Once you receive your results, our Agriculture Agent will go over the information and help you determine what is best needed for your soil.
