SUMMARY:WYATT ESPALIN IN CONCERT AT THE FOLK SCHOOL
DESCRIPTION:Join us MONDAY\, April 13 7 p.m. at Keith House for a concert with Wyatt Espalin. We are pleased to offer another round of stripped-down American songwriting after Wyatt's recent sold-out full band show at the Peacock Performing Arts Center. Wyatt is a folk school favorite\, having taught in the JAM program for years. His stage presence is stellar\, and we're betting you'll enjoy the fresh songs he's been cooking up and recording. Wyatt Espalin is an award-winning songwriter\, fiddler\, and storyteller whose music captures the raw beauty of his Appalachian roots. Raised on a rustic campground in North Georgia by his maternal grandparents where Wyatt began his musical journey. His artistry has been recognized through numerous accolades\, including winning the 2014 L.E.A.F. Festival New Song Singer-Songwriter Competition and placing as a finalist in prestigious events such as the Merlefest Chris Austin Songwriting Competition\, (2009 & 2019 Best Bluegrass Song)\, and the Rocky Mountain Folk Festival Songwriter Showcase (2014\, 2019\, 2021). He has shared the stage with an impressive lineup of artists\, including the Indigo Girls\, Jim Lauderdale\, Patty Loveless\, and Sam Bush. In Spring 2026\, Wyatt will release his debut full-length album\, Lies From A Lonesome Valley\, featuring his band\, The Riverstones. This collection of songs reflects Wyatt's deep introspection on identity\, belonging\, and the search for home. Blending haunting melodies\, evocative storytelling\, and rich instrumentation\, the album presents his songwriting through a new lens\, equally suited to intimate duo performances or full-band arrangements. A donation of $5-15 per adult is suggested\, but all are welcome regardless of contribution. Any funds raised support traditional arts and help us strive for equitable pay for performers. *Lineup and schedule are subject to change\, for the most up to date details check the schedule at folkschool.org/concerts.
