DESCRIPTION:The Secret is out! Grand Opening Celebration of the Clay County Recreation Department's brand new playground is scheduled for Friday\, July 24\, 2026 from 11AM-1PM. Clay County Government was happy to partner with Bliss Products and Services out of Lithonia Springs\, Georgia\, to bring you the Olympus Tower. Standing with a peak height of 24 feet tall\, the new playground from Play and Park Structures is a brand new design and the first of its kind to be assembled in the United States. It includes multiple slides of various heights\, climbing walls\, interactive play and multi-generational pieces including: Tweenmates: Allows two people to work face-to-face in tandem for a cooperative swing experience Rock-N-Wave: Access for both children and adults on the large swaying platform Inclusive Carousel: Ground level entry and a spacious whirl platform allow room for a caregiver to sit with the child Selfie Swing: The caregiver and child can both sit on swing during play.With safety in mind\, we added 3.75 inches of Duraplay Safety Surfacing over the base. You will feel the difference! Improvements included brand new subsurface drainage\, additional parking as part of a phased development\, new sidewalk to allow handicap access\, and renovated bathrooms located in the concession stand between fields 3 and 4. In the next two weeks finishing touches including new fencing\, landscape and hydro seeding will be concluded. Some painting and signage placement are among some checklist items still to be finished. We appreciate you allowing staff and contractors to complete this additional work ahead of the Grand Opening and as such\, remind you\, the playground is closed to the general public till the 24th. The Clay County Board of Commissioners wants to extend a special thank you to Jerry Payne\, Clay County Rec Department Director\, for managing this project. We look forward to seeing you at this special event.
